Brief Introduction of Hunan University of Science and Engineering (HUSE) | ||
Located in the historic and cultural city of Yongzhou, Hunan Province, Hunan University of Science and Engineering (HUSE, since 1971) is a full-time comprehensive public undergraduate university, which still places emphasis on basic science. Our university also has undergraduate programs in literature, law, history, economics, management, education etc. The campus covers an area of 870 000 square meters. It has a teaching and administrative staff of 1032 in the university now. Among the 715 teachers, 250 are professor and associate professors,? and 530 holders of master's degrees and doctoral degrees. HUSE has 16 institutes (departments), 13 research institutes, and it offers 32 full-time specialties of undergraduate courses. It has an enrollment of over 12,000 full-time students from 28 provinces and autonomous regions. |

From the year 2002 on, HUSE has undertaken more than 430 items of national and provincial scientific research projects, and won one special award in national outstanding teaching achievement, and 7 provincial awards. Favorable Location: Yongzhou borders on Guangdong and Guangxi Provinces and it has water, land and air transport facilities like the Hunan-Guangxi Railway, the Luoyang-Zhanjiang Railway, the Hengyang-Kunming Freeway, the Yongzhou-Lianzhou Highway, the No.207 and 322 National Highways converging in it and Yongzhou Airport with airlines to the major cities of the country. Rich cultural background: Yongzhou has a rich cultural background as the cradle of cultures related to Emperor Shun, to the Yao nationality, to Liu Zongyuan the famous Tang Dynasty essayist, to the female writing system, to rice cultivation and to Confucian idealist philosophy. |

Full-scale Student Financial Support: The campus has provided full-scale support for all students in the form of study grants, best student scholarships, and excellent student aid for students who come from lower-income families and individual subject scholarship. It also provides loans to the students.

| International Exchange and Corporation The University has placed great emphasis on international exchange and corporation since its establishment. It has so far sent more than 40 teachers to the United States, Japan, UK, Australia and Thailand for further study or studying as visiting scholars or attending international academic conferences. There are over 50 international scholars and 100 famous experts from all over the country to teach or give lectures in HUSE. We are communicating actively with foreign universities and research institutions to build formal and friendly international cooperation and exchange relations which will contribute to develop the university in an all-round way into a high-quality local multi-discipline regular university with distinctive features, so as to make newer and greater contributions to local economic and social development.
